Me... An Art Teacher? It's A "Dream" Come True

Went to Hougang Primary School today… for the SEM meeting… still duno wat classes I am going to teach… dun even have a seat yet… haha… apparently the school has too many staff and too little space… but luckily they are going to convert one of the classrooms into an extra staff room… so things will get beta (hopefully) when school re-opens…

But some things I found out today… my core dept is MT Chinese (definitely)… my non-core dept is IT (oh no… 4got everything liao)… my SEM criterion group is Physical Facilities, my team leader is the OM (meaning I am part of the team in charge of school facilities, building n maintenance)… plus they inform me due to the SURPLUS of Chinese teachers in the school (1st time hearing tis, I always tot ALL schools lack Chinese teachers), I will most likely be required to teach PE, health education, music and art as well… hahaha…

Kaoz… imagine a super unfit person (like me) teaching PE… imagine someone with extremely unhealthy lifestyle (me again) teaching health education… imagine a tone-deaf (who else?) teaching music… imagine me teaching art… ME… ART… WAHAHAHA… greatest joke of the century…

Movie Reviews

Watched a few movies recently… Spiderman 3, Blades Of Glory & Pirates 3… I din like Spiderman 3… same as most of my male frenz… the show was too “moral education” for me… action not enuff, story too draggy, Peter Parker is portrayed like an idiot, villains not cool n evil enuff… to guys, superhero action flicks should juz focus on the action sequences… trying to get soapy and dwelling too much on the moral values n emotions is a mistake… it juz kills the essence of the show…

Pirates 3 turned out to be a disappointment as well… personally, I tink it’s the worst episode of the trilogy… a weak finale… some parts are juz damn lame and pointless (stone crabs, multiple Jack Sparrows, toopid clown-like pirate lords etc)… I tink both Spiderman 3 and Pirates 3 share one point in common, they are both highly-anticipated shows and so ppl tend to have high expectations of them… however, quite often, the higher the expectations, the greater the disappointment…

Blades Of Glory turned out to be the “best” show instead (to my total surprise)… nono… I’m not saying it’s a good show… it’s silly… senseless… slapstick B-grade comedy… but hey… it’s exactly wat it’s supposed to be… met all its “expectations”… and served its purpose in providing brainless entertainment… the show is damn funnie… plenty of good laffs…

Overall verdict: A superhero and a bunch of pirates are no match for a couple of idiots on ice… Pathetic…

New Haircut + Extra Money = Beta Mood

Had my haircut juz now… it’s abt time, hair getting long n messy… my sideburns are curling up too, which looks quite messy… now cut short feels much cooler and refreshed, long hair is a torture during warm weather…

Looking forward to the opening of “Pirates Of The Caribbean 3”… a must-watch… but I most probably will wait at least one week after it opens tis Thursday… coz starting sure will be packed with ppl every show…

Another thing to look forward to is our monthly poly outing tis coming Sat… the place we’re going to seems not bad… food looks good… yummy… passed by the place the other day, was tempted to go try 1st… but I promised Lene liao I wun go b4 her so… ren a few more days… hahaha… it beta be good…

Abit of good news tis month for civil servants (including ME)… have 0.5 month performance bonus… meaning extra money… but actually not tat good lah… pay increment is beta… the “clever” government chose to give us one lump sum which actually is much lesser than monthly increments… but hey… no fish prawn oso good… mai hiam lah… have money is beta than no money…

I still haven’t tot of wat to buy using the 400 bucks from MOE (teachers are given $400 yearly to spend on education-related stuff)… at 1st wana buy a digicam… but my old one is still working fine leh, althou it’s the cheapo type… I going to watch “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” so can claim… but it’s onli 40+ dollars so I have more than 300 dollars left… hmm… still wondering can claim for handphone anot… I nid a new hp…

Wasting My Precious Holiday

Morale is low… real LOW… by rite now holiday period should be happy de (despite the fact have to go back NIE for toopid induction program)… but somehow feeling low coz keep getting tis nagging feeling tat I am not making full use and enjoying my holiday to the fullest b4 starting work… mainly becoz din get to go overseas… realli nothing much to do in Singapore… so sianz…

Going to Hougang Primary next wed to mit the principal… by then shld be able to find out how much holiday I would get… hopefully can get two full weeks (I’m not asking for much rite?)… once confirm the dates I dun nid to go back sch, then I will try to squeeze out a holiday overseas plan… I dun care liao… dun care price, nv mind which hotel… I juz wana GO ABROAD !!!

Hougang Primary School, Here I Come!

School posting is out… got posted to Hougang Primary School… beri big sch… double sessions so most likely have to “float”… if kana mornie session then have to wake up damn early liao… coz sch starts at 725am, students report by 710am so teachers most prob haf to reach by 650am or earlier… plus traveling time, have to take bus (the sch is in buangkok)… wah… means I have to wake up ard 530am? * faintz *

Been asking around but still haven’t found anyone I know going to the same sch as me… imagine a newbie like me going alone into a foreign environment with over 100 teachers… sounds nerve-wrecking… hope I dun freak out… have to start from scratch, re-adapt to new environment, know new ppl, new students… tedious… but bobian lah… change is a phase of life… at least I can take comfort in the fact that IMH is juz nearby in case I go crazy…

3 days left to end of practicum… leaving Jing Shan soon… haven’t bought presents for my CT and students yet… today still have to stay back after sch mark exam papers… onli left tmr afternoon to go buy… hopefully there’s nothing on for tmr…

Since starting work (actually not OFFICIALLY working yet, but practicum not studies so I count lah), realize why working ppl always like to say school life is beta, they miss schooling days etc… last time studying, always like have too much time on hand… always trying to find new things to do coz a lot of stuff do until sianz liao… now working, totally opposite case, time like always not enuff… do everything oso have to “squeeze” time out to do… those common n “boring” activities last time seem like a luxury nowadays… simple things like catching a movie, going for ktv or even juz going for a jog downstairs… now I really learn to appreciate time together with my family n frenz…

Have been TRYING to org a lot of things lately… both with my family side n frenz side… coz I know by the time I OFFICIALLY start work in the near future, I wun have much time for them liao… I tried to persuade my parents to go for an overseas family trip (we have NEVER been on one b4) but trying to get my mum to go overseas is harder than striking TOTO… so I have to settle with juz bringing them to the circus… oh ya, juz in case u din know… there’s a circus in town… it’s at downtown east… quite cheap somemore… great for a family outing… check out http://www.ticketcharge.com.sg/eventsinfo.asp?idx=102 for more details…

Long Update

Beri long no updates… Too tired due to practicum… Anyway 5 more days to go b4 practicum ends… Ganbatte !

Dun wish to tok much abt my practicum… Some unhappy incidents tis past week… Trying hard not to tink abt it liao… Hopefully I’ll pass my practicum…

Going back to NIE next week for the toopid induction program… aiyo two weeks leh… even Sat have to go… then weekdays is like from morning 8 to 6 in the evening… longer than school day loh… bloody hell… eat our holiday not enuff still wana torture us with those long boring useless talks… tink I’ll try to skip a few days… or rather as many days as possible… wahaha…

Did nothing much past few weeks… caught the movie “200 pounds beauty”… nice show wor… beri funny… not many shows can get me to realli laff… this is one of those rare ones… and the female lead quite chio :p… not the super chio type but have 气质… and the show does bring up some issues worth tinking abt regarding plastic surgery… so it’s not juz slapstick comedy… Anyway, in conclusion, highly recommended by Watashi… so catch it b4 it close…

Wanted to watch Spiderman 3 too… been waiting for it to come out for a long time… but most of my frenz who watched din like the show… some common comments are tat the show is damn lame and cheesy… hmm… nv mind… tink I’ll still go watch… but maybe during a weekday where it’s cheaper and less crowded…

Went for our monthly poly gathering too… we went to tis Korean restaurant at Mosque Street… ok lah… not realli beri authentic and food standard is juz average… but it does bring back memories of Korea… gosh I miss Korea… almost brought a tear to my eye while eating… hahaha…

Hmm… Genting trip is off… Sad… response not beri good… dates unavailable… prices too high… coz I planning to leave on Friday night and come back Sunday night… but I found out this schedule is not easy to plan coz their packages for Genting usually is 2 days 1 nite, beri few 3 days 2 nites… and the average price per person for the packages I found online (bus tix plus hotel) is around 200 plus per person, close to 300… I tink tink abit find tat not realli worth it to spend so much juz going to Malaysia for such a short trip… might as well save the money go somewhere further next time…
